'General Hospital' and 'Young and the Restless' alum Billy Miller has passed away. Actor Passed Away At Age 43
Billy Miller, an actor who had won a Daytime Emmy Award for his work, passed away on Friday, September 15; he was 43 years old. It was just two days before his 44th birthday, which is today, when he passed away suddenly. There is no indication as to what caused the death.
Miller, who was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, started his career as a model before being hired in a number of commercials and landing a cameo part on CSI: New York in 2006. In 2007, he made his debut on the ABC soap opera All My Children, where he played the role of Richie Novak and remained in the role for two years. After leaving that position, he was cast as Billy Abbott on The Young and the Restless, for which he was nominated for three Daytime Emmy Awards: one for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, two for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, and one for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series. Miller left the show in 2014 and later moved on to General Hospital, where he played Jason Morgan and Morgan's twin, Drew Cain, and was also recognized for his efforts in both of those roles there. Miller continued to work at General Hospital right up until the year 2019.
The product of Tulsa, Oklahoma made his debut in the world of daytime television in 2007 when he was cast in the role of Richie Novak on All My Children. A two-year run on the ABC soap opera helped prepare the way for his blockbuster role as Billy Abbott on the CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless. He was the fourth actor to play the role of Billy on the top-rated drama on CBS, but he made the role more than his own in every way. To wit, he was nominated for and won three Daytime Emmys throughout the six years that he was a part of the show (2008–2014), two of which were for Outstanding Supporting Actor and one of which was for Outstanding Lead Actor.
Miller made the move to General Hospital in 2014, replacing Steve Burton in the character of Jason Morgan/Drew Cain, which Miller had previously played. In 2019, he stepped away from the ABC soap opera.
"You lit up every room with your smile," Y&R alum Michael Muhney wrote of Miller on X, the social media network which was formerly known as Twitter. "Your soft warmth and real concern offscreen were only surpassed by the quiet intensity with which you portrayed it onscreen. You were stronger, more courageous, and more audacious than this life. You were a renowned figure. This final cliffhanger doesn't have a resolution; the wings you've worked your whole life to earn have already taken you up to that glorious destination in the sky. (You may read further tributes to Miller on this page.)
Miller has appeared as a guest star on a number of primetime television shows, including CSI: New York, Justified, Ringer, Major Crimes, Suits, and Ray Donovan. Additionally, he appeared in multiple episodes of the first season of the drama series Truth Be Told on Apple TV+, playing the role of Lanie's spouse.
Miller's mother Patricia, sister Megan, brother-in-law Ronnie, nephew Grayson, and niece Charley are among those who will miss him after his passing.
