parkinson's law explained
#productivitytips #timemanagement #wisdomforlife #worksmarter

Parkinson’s law is the observation that the amount of work or complexity of a task tends to increase to fill the time available for its completion. It was named after Cyril Northcote Parkinson, who first described it in a humorous essay in 1955¹.
The law can apply to various aspects of work, such as productivity, bureaucracy, psychotherapy, and time management.

According to Parkinson’s law, giving yourself too much time to do something can make it more difficult and stressful, as you might procrastinate, overthink, or create unnecessary work for yourself and others.

To overcome Parkinson’s law, it is recommended to set realistic and specific deadlines (or set unrealistically short deadlines to get a first draft out into the real world), break down large tasks into smaller ones, prioritize the most important and urgent tasks, and avoid distractions and interruptions.
