Reports are emerging from India of a highly dangerous virus with a kill rate of It is far deadlier than anything seen before, reaching a staggering 75%. The Nipah virus is transmitted by fruit bats, which can pass the virus to humans through contact with contaminated bodily fluids such as saliva or urine left on fruits. Two individuals in the southern state of Kerala have already lost their lives due to the surge in virus cases, serving as a stark reminder of the Hollywood pandemic thriller 'Contagion'. Five additional cases have been identified, which include a child of one of the individuals affected. Moreover, testing has been conducted on over 800 individuals. The outbreak is being closely monitored by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA).
