Ranking My Favorite and Least Favorite Non-Nintendo Franchises

Over the years, I have loved most Nintendo Franchises, but there is more out there in the gaming world than just a plumber and his brother from Brooklyn. I've even been known to buy Sega, Microsoft, and Sony hardware! That's right! So as such, what are some of my favorite and least favorite non-Nintendo franchises? Let's rank a few and find out.

Mega Man
Known as Rock Man in Japan, this is one of the few franchises that I own all the games on a specific console, specifically I have all the Rock Man Games on the Famicom. This is a great series with amazing music, a good difficultly level, and each generation builds on the predecessor and makes things better. This is a fantastic series.

Final Fantasy
Part of this comes down to my dislike of turn-based or JRPGs, but I have never been a fan of Final Fantasy. My best friend as a kid, Chris, LOVED RPGs, so I'd sit with him as he played, but I just couldn't get into it. I think it's because with the turn-based mechanic, I felt like I might as well be playing a board game.

MLB The Show
This is one title I buy every year, even if it is just for the roster update. I am a huge baseball fan and The Show has done an amazing job keeping the franchise fresh and new each and every season.

Shenmue
I have just never been able to get into Shenmue, I don't know why. I know my friend Adam Koralik loves the series, I'm just not into it. I've tried a few times and I think for me it's just not something I'll ever get into.

Halo
Part of this is I've never been an Xbox guy. Part is that First Person Shooters aren't my favorite genre, but Master Chief and Halo are something I'll occasionally interact with but I don't go out of my way to play.

Yooka Laylee
The Spiritual Successor to Banjo Kazooie and Donkey Kong Country, Yooka and Laylee are amazing characters that Feel like old friends, even though the series is less than 7 years old.

Minecraft
I. Do. NOT. Get. The. Appeal!

Ratchet & Clank
You had to know this was making the list. I love this warbot and Lombax, and this is probably my favorite series next to Mario. They're well-written, funny, and the games are all terrific. These games are always Day-1 Purchases for me.

What about you? What are your favorite or least favorite Non-Nintendo Franchises?
