The 36 questions that lead to love article was originally published in the New York Times January 9th, 2015 and has likely been shared thousands of times by matchmakers and love professionals around the world.
A study by the psychologist Arthur Aron (and others) explores whether intimacy between two strangers can be accelerated by having them ask each other a specific series of personal questions. The 36 questions in the study are broken up into three sets, with each set intended to be more probing than the previous one. When you allow yourself to be vulnerable, open and communicate your deepest desires, fears, needs, wants and goals with a partner, you develop a deeper bond and connection. I've shared these questions with many of my clients and often refer to them myself when in conversation with someone I'm looking to connect with more intimately.
