Teenage girl killed by falling tree in Fort Thomas

A 15-year-old girl was struck and killed by a falling tree Tuesday night, according to Capt. Steve Lumpp of the Fort Thomas Fire Department. Lumpp said the girl was sitting on a hammock between two trees at a friend's house when one of them collapsed on top of her. Fort Thomas Matters reported the girl was scheduled to start high school this fall. Grief counselors will be available at Highlands High School, where she planned to attend, throughout the school day Wednesday.
