The massive attack against this 14 Billion-dollar company, losing 25 million dollars each day it remains down and offline, was allegedly caused by Black Cat ransomware group

This ransomware incident was reported Monday and all systems remain down.

Employees are concerned about not being able to get paid this week and travelers have been stranded and systems, phones and platforms remain offline.

Many reports indicate that the attackers gained access to MGM's systems by exploiting LinkedIn profiles of employees and impersonating the IT help desk and using social engineering.

However, new information from dark web sources indicate that Black Cat also had acess to MGM’s Okta’s security agents, exploiting a vulnerability. Dark Reading also just posted information stating, "MGM made the hasty decision to shut down each and every one of their Okta Sync servers after learning that we had been lurking in their Okta Agent servers sniffing passwords of people whose passwords couldn't be cracked from their domain controller hash dumps,"
