State moves forward with plans to widen highway section

The State Department of Transportation is moving forward with plans to ease traffic on I-75 in Charlotte County. The stretch from Jones Loop Road to U.S. 17 is the only 4-lane section of I-75 left between Naples and the Florida-Georgia border. The project is expected to start the project later this year. Construction will last about a year and a half.
