Look Like Jesus-The Heart of the Matter: The Heart

Today's Question: Is the Heart good or bad?

(From a regular contributor) Last Sunday, in Sunday School, we were talking about the heart. This set off all kinds of alarms in my head and my heart for the Bible says the heart is fickle above all else who can know it? But God lives in our hearts which confuses me because that means trust your heart. Anyway I brought that up and I felt all but ignored, as if I was arguing not trying to learn. So I felt the lesson was not being taught from a biblical stand point. But I’m neither wise, experienced, and most definitely not pure enough to tell anyone they are wrong about teaching the Bible. But it got me thinking. Is there a heart within our hearts, and that’s where God lives? Or is the heart just dangerous to trust, as in you can trust it to a point because that is where God is? I get mental images of a stop light that is our conscience telling us what we know is right what we know is wrong. Showing us the light to God.

The lesson from Sunday has been bugging me a lot. For he said teach God in a modern way to appeal to the next generation, which, to me, means gimmicks, and big shows. That doesn’t sound right. He said but you get a bigger audience and bring them to God. But church isn’t meant to be a show. It’s a gathering of the faithful to worship God is it not?

What does the bible say, and what does everyone else think?
just something that has been on my mind and heart all day and most of the week.
