The Indian man spent 72 hours with 72 poisonous snakes..

Neelam Kumar Khaire, a restless 28-year-old in 1986, has an unusual world record to his name. He had some strange companions for 72 hours in a glass cabin: 27 monocellate cobras, 24 russell's vipers, nine binocellate cobras, eight banded kraits, and four common snakes.

Khaire, a diploma-holder in catering, works as a receptionist at Blue Diamond, a five-star hotel in Pune. It was during his earlier stint with the Maharashtra Tourism Department that he fell in love with the reptiles. He was posted nine years ago as manager of a holiday home at Matheran, near Bombay. He decided to break the world record of staying with venomous snakes in a glass enclosure.

He claimed that he did not harm or disturb the snakes, and that they only bit him when he accidentally touched them. He said that he wanted to show the world that snakes are beautiful and friendly creatures, and that they should not be killed out of fear.
