The Authority of the Believer - Understanding Who We Are In Christ

We often doubt ourselves and become even more skeptical after reading Mark 16.

It's natural to desire the same authority as Jesus, like being able to understand what your loved ones are thinking before you even speak. However, the thought of casting out demons, handling snakes, and drinking poison seems impossible and unrealistic. Many of us have seen movies or previews of movies like "The Exorcist" and "Anaconda," and we want nothing to do with demons and snakes.

But doubt often starts with a thought, and all temptation and sin begin in our minds. Casting out demons and snakes may not always be a physical action. It could also mean fighting off the demons and snakes in our minds. The spiritual war we face starts in our thoughts.

Our thoughts and preconceptions can limit our identity in Christ and keep us from realizing the authority we have as believers. Satan uses this to play games with us. Movies like "The Devil's Advocate" can partially reveal this truth.

To start your day seeking your identity in Christ and living in the authority given to you as a believer, try the following steps:

1. Read Psalms 23 out loud every morning.
2. Read Psalms 91 out loud in the middle of your day.
3. Before going to bed, eliminate all distractions and read Ephesians 1-3.
4. Pray a simple prayer every day, asking our Abba Father to eliminate your doubts and reveal your identity in Him and your authority as a believer.

If you're ready to discover your identity in Christ and live with the authority given to you as a believer, raise your hand!

Dear Abba Father, some of us are here to understand our identity in Jesus. Some of us are unsure about the so-called believer's authority or whether we have an identity in Jesus at all. We struggle with the fact that you see us as saints and heirs to your throne. Today, we ask you to clarify our identity in Jesus to each person who raised their hand and those who still have doubts. Use the next 30 days to open our eyes to a new life through prayer, Psalms 23 and 91.

Abba Father, we ask you to show each person here today seeking the truth and the legitimacy of the Believers' Authority when they live their lives with the power of the Holy Spirit.

In Jesus' authority given to us and in His name, Amen!
