The National Association of Theater Owners reported that moviegoers paid an average of $8.95 per ticket - a new high and very different from the average 40 years ago at $2.23. There are some places that are actually giving you experiences worth that price of admission. Lindsey Granger has three must-visit cinemas across the nation.

If you are a fan of the cult classic, where the main character doesn’t say a word but opens its mouth quite a lot, then the number one on this list is a must for you! You can really feel that Jaws music when you get in the water to watch the 1975 classic at Mitchell Creek Marina in Tennessee. The open air cinema on the water can over 1000 people on floats and if you bring your own floatie and life jacket, the ticket is free of charge.

What makes this second location different than other movies is its middle name. The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is a cool place, where you can lounge at a bar, grab a beer, maybe a glass of wine, even a cocktail. The really cool feature about this establishment? You can have food delivered to your seat while you watch some of the latest blockbusters that come fresh out of Hollywood, or some of the old classics. They even play indie movies as well!

The third one is probably the most unique on the list. Cinema Under The Stars is a sort of domestic cinema that owner Doug Yeagley shares with the rest of San Diego. This establishment only screen the oldies, because Doug thinks that everyone should be able to experience them, just like in the old days. Just lounge in the zero gravity chair with the complimentary pillow and blanket and enjoy.
