The White House has called on media outlets to increase their scrutiny of House Republicans for initiating an impeachment inquiry into President Biden. In a letter sent to news organizations, the White House urged the media to ramp up its examination of House Republicans for launching an impeachment inquiry based on what they described as "lies."

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy announced the formal impeachment inquiry, claiming to have uncovered "serious and credible allegations" against President Biden. The Biden administration responded by encouraging newsrooms to closely scrutinize the inquiry.

Ian Sams, a Special Assistant to the President and spokesperson for the White House Counsel's office, authored the letter. Sams argued that after nearly nine months of investigation, House Republicans have failed to produce any evidence of wrongdoing by the President. He also highlighted that some House Republicans openly admit there is no evidence to support impeachment.

Impeachment is a serious and rare process outlined in the Constitution, requiring evidence of "treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors." The White House asserted that House Republicans are publicly admitting they have not found evidence of such wrongdoing, citing reports that as many as 30 House Republicans doubt there is enough evidence for impeachment.
