Book Review: President James Buchanan: A Biography

This weeks #bookoftheweek is President James Buchanan: A Biography by Philip Shriver Klein. And unable to find a specific cocktail for Sage of Wheatland or Old Buck, I settled on a combo cocktail called Sage Old Buck:

1 pinch of black peppercorn
3/4 oz Sugar Syrup
3/4 oz Lemon Juice
3/4 oz Ginger Beer
1/2 oz Pear Liqueur
1 1/2 oz Scotch Whisky
1/4 oz Vanilla Syrup

Muddle the peppercorn and sugar syrup before adding the rest of the ingredients and ice. Shake well and strain over ice.
