According to local authorities, the toll from the Mediterranean storm in Libya has exceeded 6,000 fatalities, with concerns for an additional 10,000 individuals who remain unaccounted for.

This calamity unfolded as the storm, named Daniel, struck the North African nation on a Sunday night, bringing with it torrential rain that triggered flash floods, Yahoo News reported.

However, the most catastrophic consequences occurred hours later, as two dams situated along the Wadi Derna River gave way, unleashing a torrent that obliterated entire coastal neighborhoods.
