Wetlands in Kampala ,a business district have been highly degraded through the construction of factories, churches and community settlements, which calls for immediate remedial plans by the concerned stakeholders to reverse the trend .

This wetlands encroachment puts sanitation and hygiene in slum areas at risk as well as causing flooding.

Simon kasyate head of public and cooperate affairs, at the Kampala capital city Authority cautions on reckless driving   as the climate change effects hit Kampala’s poorly drained roads.
KCCA has upgraded a number of drainage channels to divert floods in the five divisions of Kampala and constructing the city’s roads, however the flooding problem  in Kampala seems far from over.

Kampala’s wetlands which are supposed to act as catchment centers are being encroached on by the people despite several warnings against their encroachers which has blocked the city’s drainages hence flooding in the city.
