Jay is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Minnesota in the Department of Ecology, Evolution and Behavior (EEB). He has a dual-PhD from Michigan State University in Integrative Biology and Ecology, Evolutionary Biology, and Behavior (EEBB) and he completed my PhD in the lab of Rich Lenski, which is famous for the E. coli long-term evolution experiment (LTEE), the longest-running evolution experiment in the history of science. His research focuses on using digital organisms to test evolutionary theory. Digital organisms are self-replicating computer programs that mutate, compete, and evolve in virtual environments. They allow us to observe evolution-in-action rapidly.
