“Trump Idolatry Syndrome?”
Depending on the news you consume, you may have heard quite a bit about “Trump Derangement Syndrome” over the past few years. But am I inventing the term “Trump Idolatry Syndrome?” Well, no. I did find it used in one random post on LinkedIn earlier this year, but that’s it. So maybe I can at least popularize the phrase? I don’t use it lightly. On LinkedIn it was a slur against all supporters of the former president, but I mean it quite literally. There are some who worship the man. As Christ. And this is the danger of playing with idols, friends. It may start as catchy political rhetoric, but the mystery of iniquity will always blaspheme God eventually. Today on Something’s Happening Here, we look at the only end-result possible when we replace God with a human figure; and hopefully learn never to do that in our lives.
