Canada's falling behind and it's not a secret anymore Inflation has been eating away at our incomes for years Canadian households are feeling the pinch and yet most businesses can't afford substantial pay raises Why Because Canadian workers simply aren't as productive as they should be In fact over the past year alone the productivity of Canadian workers has shrunk by 2% That's like wiping out six years of economic growth Recently economist Trevor Toons shared a chart comparing the GDP of Canadian provinces to US states and the results are startling Ontario the economic heartland of Canada has a GDP equivalent to Alabama Even Alberta our wealthiest province now falls short compared to New Jersey and lags behind Colorado and Wyoming It's clear Canada's falling behind.
