An overpass is being built on State Highway 21 between Lucky Peak and Idaho City to reduce the number of wildlife-vehicle collisions in the area. The project is expected to cost about $7 million, with most of the funding coming from the federal government's federal lands access program. The Idaho Transportation Department will monitor the impact of the overpass on animal-related crashes, and if it proves to be effective, additional overpasses may be built in the future.
