Christmas is here and the Holiday Season. If you have a desire to GIVE. Consider this charity/Ministry. It is one of the best you can give to. Three members of my famly have been to Nigeria to serve with Peter and his family. Peter has one of the best hearts and his ministry impacts all of Jos and Nigeria. When Peter Fretheim was growing up in Greenwich, his family's backcountry home near Wilshire Pond was known for its ski jump, which rose above the tree tops and was packed with snow each winter.
These days, Fretheim is living in Jos, Nigeria, a city marked by striking poverty and violent religious clashes that have recently left hundreds dead.
For the past 21 years, Fretheim and his wife, Miriam, have traded comfortable lives and worked to help comfort others, including orphans, street children, victims of AIDS and leprosy.
Through his nonprofit organization Go Nigeria and 'City Ministries' under Serving in Mission (SIM), Fretheim oversees seven care centers, where close to 400 orphans live in small homes that function like large families.. The ‘House of Hope’ focuses on evangelism and discipleship — winning and teaching the lost. ‘King’s Kids’ works with impoverished children. They use sports to reach out to children and youth through a ‘City Sports’ ministry. They are bringing the love of Jesus to many rejected souls: orphans, street children, handicapped, lepers, poor and homeless and others who have no hope.
