"Shamed Homeland"

September 7th, a date historically symbolizing Brazil's independence, should be a moment of celebration, pride, and reflection on our nation. However, in this year of 2023, the prevailing sentiment is one of sadness, shame, and mockery. We are witnessing a Brazil that is sorrowful and embarrassed, with its flag tarnished by the horror of corruption.

It is undeniable that corruption has been a persistent stain on our political history, but the shame of having the highest leader of a criminal organization as our president is undeniably outrageous. The president, the leader of the nation, is directly involved in corruption cases, something that should be unacceptable in any healthy democracy. And yet, the country is compelled to salute a leader who clearly does not deserve such honor.

It is not just the president who is embroiled in scandals. Even the government's leader was caught with money in his underwear, and nowadays, in our relative democracy, he still receives medals and honors. This is an insult to the Brazilian people, who deserve worthy and upright leaders, not those tainted by the quagmire of corruption.

The situation is even more disturbing when the president of the republic himself claims that the military has taken over September 7th. This not only distorts history but also raises doubts about the integrity of the military institutions and the trust the nation should place in them. It is difficult to honor a leader without honor, and it is even more challenging when those who should be guardians of the nation are dragged into the center of a political controversy.

Despite all this, there is a spark of hope that continues to burn in the hearts of the Brazilian people. We believe that this storm of corruption plaguing Brazil will soon pass. September 7th may be somber this year, but we must remember that true independence is not just the liberation of a country from foreign domination, but also the liberation from its own internal corruption. Brazil deserves a better future, and it begins with the demand for worthy, transparent, and upright leaders who truly represent the spirit and values of the Brazilian people.
