DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

Ephesians 1:16-21 I make mention of you in my prayers… that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you would know the hope of His calling, and the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, that you would know the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but in the age to come. And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

What does it mean for the eyes of our understanding to be enlightened?
How does that happen?
How do we get that to happen for us?
What could the “exceeding greatness of the power toward us” refer to?
Why do we need to get a revelation of that?

Jesus was raised and seated above all principality and power and might and dominion, and all things were put under His feet.

How does this change anything? What is the benefit to the world that Christ is above all?
Christ is enthroned. He is Lord of all. But what exactly is He doing on the throne? What is His game plan?

Matt. 28:18 All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations…
“Therefore” means somehow the command to make disciples of all the nations is connected to Christ’s exalted place in the cosmos!
What might our commission have to do with Christ’s place of authority over all spiritual forces?
What is our battle against? (Eph. 6:12)
