12
The Gate plugin, or Nose Gate plugin can be used to automatically turn down the volume of unwanted sounds. This can be customized through various parameters to achieve the desired sound. Practical uses of Gate plugins are to combat unwanted room noise from air conditioners or fans. Also, they are used on tracks such as Snare drum to minimize the mic bleed from the hi hat and toms.
In this video, I'll explain the Gate plugin featured in Presonus Studio One. I'll cover the Threshold, Gain Reduction, Attack, Hold, and Release settings so that you can better use the plugin to fit your needs!
