The truss of the Missouri River bridge at Rocheport will be blasted on the morning of Sunday, Sept. 10.

The truss is the framework of beams that holds the structure up.

Interstate 70 and a portion of the Katy Trail will close momentarily for the truss removal. It is planned to happen at 7:30 a.m., and the whole process is expected to take about an hour.

According to a press release from the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), the demolition team will use a controlled explosion, which will drop the old truss into the Missouri River. Crews will then inspect the new bridge to make sure all debris is removed before the interstate is reopened to traffic....
