NEOWISE: Unveiling the Dynamic Universe Through Time-Lapse Movies

Step into the mesmerizing world of space as NASA's NEOWISE mission unveils a universe in constant motion. New time-lapse movies capture celestial objects like stars, black holes, and more as they evolve and transform over time. Watch as previously hidden brown dwarfs, a voracious feeding black hole, a fading star, a star-forming region, and a brilliant star come to life.

These captivating videos are the result of over a decade of NEOWISE observations and 18 all-sky images, offering a unique opportunity for astronomers to analyze long-term changes in the cosmos, deepening our understanding of the universe.

Originally launched as the Wide-Field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) in December 2009, NEOWISE was initially tasked with surveying the sky in infrared, detecting asteroids, stars, and some of the faintest galaxies in space. Its mission expanded to include the study of near-Earth objects (NEOs), as well as more distant asteroids and comets, after resuming observations in December 2013.
