Powerful earthquake hits Morocco, killing hundreds

A powerful earthquake in Morocco's High Atlas mountains toppled buildings and sent people fleeing their homes in several cities late on Friday (September 8), residents said. At least 296 people died and 153 were injured, state TV said, citing the ministry of the interior.
