Salmon Fishing Door County

I went to bed at 9:30 with the phone set for 2:15, and woke up at 1:30, so I had my breakfast a little early and prepared for our fishing trip. I left home at 2:45 to meet John Sr and Patrick Sullivan at the Sturgeon Bay Sawyer Launch at 3:00 we were taking John Jr’s boat out. WE got out to the bank reef at 4:30 and Patrick set the four downriggers while I flashed the luminescent painted spoons with a camera flash. This day was different than the other days they had been out, the wind had switched out of the Northeast, and the fish were not hitting at sunup as usual. We ended out trip with two fish both salmon one small 15” fish and the nice approximately eight pound fish you see caught in the video. It was a lot of fun; we were back at the launch around 11:00.
