Police Officer FIRED For Punching Man

Matthew Nutt, who was fired from the Antioch Police Department in the same incident, was charged Tuesday with aggravated battery on a person. In the video released Wednesday, Nutt kicked and punched the handcuffed man several times. Nutt has not yet entered a plea, but plans to do so on July 18. 
The charge stems from a July 1, 2022, traffic stop in which Nutt and another officer tackled a  man to the ground and pulled him into a car  to arrest him on an outstanding warrant. The other officer is listed in police records as Sgt. Joshua Evans, who is under administrative investigation for repeatedly using racial slurs and other offensive messages, including one in which Evans texted another officer, "I'm going to bury that n--r in my fields," later explained what he meant. that. used the N-word.
