The English Revolution - Beheading a King

Adam and I talk about the first 'revolution' where the King of England is beheaded. You might have the impression that this is basically a product of enlightenment thinking, or has something to do with Republicanism. Here we talk about why nothing could be further from the truth. History is often full of mis representations, bad framing, projection of the winners to justify their behavior, etc. There are some good examples of how we misunderstand those events, how they are wrapped up in what we've previously talked about, the French Revolution and the American Revolution (rebellion) and why it's important.
What is the role of big business in the beheading of the king? Is this the rise of big business as a force for government? Who had authority after the king was beheaded? Was the king merely replaced with a protector? What was the role of Parliment? Where does the responsibility to rule really lie? How was the early Parliment determined?
Join us as we explore how difficult it is for people who live today to understand the gravity of what happened in not too distance history. This event really shaped future revolutions, future ideas of rule, the loss of hierarchy, the change of the guard of a great nation, the idea of what a country is, all of this is impacted by this single event. The long history of monarchy is important to have an idea of in order to see what happened. There is a deep misundertanding of the term 'constitution' and term 'constiutional monarchy'.
