NY Gov HOCHUL SLAMMED by Cannabis Commission

Medical marijuana sellers in New York are urging Governor Kathy Hochul to allow them to sell their products to all adult consumers, not just those with medical prescriptions. Under New York's current cannabis laws, the first retail cannabis licenses were given to convicted pot dealers, and the licensing program is currently facing legal challenges. Medical cannabis operators argue that granting them licenses to serve adult-use customers would help boost the state's slow and rocky cannabis rollout and generate more tax revenues. They also believe it would help curb the illicit market, which has seen numerous illegal pot shops pop up while only 23 state-licensed dispensaries have opened.
