Cannabis in Israel and Australia comes from WHERE?
In the fiscal year from April 2022 to March 2023, Canada's medical cannabis exports saw significant growth, with medical marijuana flower exports reaching 59,986 kilograms, a 48% increase compared to the previous year. However, the vast majority of these exports went to just three countries: Australia and Israel, which together accounted for 80% of the exports, and Germany. The total value of Canada's medical cannabis exports in this period was approximately 160 million Canadian dollars ($118 million), a 50% increase over the previous fiscal year. These exports offer higher margins compared to the Canadian recreational market, making them an attractive option for Canadian cannabis companies. However, increasing competition and changing regulations in importing countries pose challenges to the sustainability of this export market.
