Developer turns Hotel Niagara into upscale hotel
The old Hotel Niagara in Niagara Falls is getting a breath of new life. The State of New York is investing $42-million dollars into the historic building. Brine Wells Development in Syracuse is in charge of turning it into an upscale hotel. This is the same company who restored Hotel Syracuse in Syracuse, New York. Governor Andrew Cuomo along with Niagara Falls Mayor, Paul Dyster toured of the 12-story building built in 1924. It was among the city's finest lodging and banquet establishments, and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Hotel Niagara is the oldest standing hotel in Niagara Falls and still has much of the architectural integrity that once made it an iconic piece of the city's skyline. Over the past several years different developers have signed on for the project and left it.mThe newly renovated Hotel Niagara will have about 130 rooms along with ballrooms for events like weddings and conferences. Developers will likely get started on the project by the start of 2018. The hotel is expected to be ready for business in 2019.
