SBC Family and Friends,

I'm back! I'll be back for a long time now! I don't foresee leaving anytime till next year. Tonight we'll continue 2 Thessalonians. Last time we introduced the book, so you might review those notes. I've added an introduction to tonights handout that will get you up to speed.

The Thessalonian believers were still facing persecution from their Jewish opponents. Paul thanks God for the report that their faith had enlarged, their love had grown, and they were persevering in the midst of persecution. He encourages them in the midst of persecution by declaring God’s righteousness in justifying them and preparing them for service in the kingdom. He reminds them that God is just and will repay their persecutors when the Lord Jesus returns at the Second Coming to deal out judgment that will have eternal consequences. He prays that God will evaluate them as worthy of their calling by extending grace to them so they complete their calling and glorify Christ.

We all ought to prepare to face persecution in America for being Christians. It is only a matter of time. If we're not prepared in advance, we'll fall when the time comes. We have to train now for the future trials we face.

I'll see you tonight!

Missing you all,
Jeremy
