The Incredible Strike of the Great Blue Heron [4K Ultra HD]

A Great Blue Heron tries and tries again to catch dinner, but will he succeed? Filmed at Medical Lake, this Great Blue Heron was fishing and kept striking at the water, and we were able to capture him in 4K and in 1080p slow-motion when he was finally able to catch a fish from the lake. Watch closely and you'll see his nictitating membrane (a transparent inner eyelid) when he blinks! This allows him to continue searching for fish while blinking, and also helps protect his eyes, allowing him to keep his eyes open when he strikes into the water.
