1. St. Magnus of Füssen, also known as Magnoald or Mang, is believed to have been a contemporary either of Saint Gall (died 627) or of Saint Boniface (died 754).

2. There is little reliable information about St. Magnus, and the primary source is an old "Vita S. Magni,"

3. According to legend, Irish missionaries Saints Columbanus and Gallus spent time with Willimar, a priest at Arbon. When Gallus fell sick, he was cared for by Magnus and Theodore (Magnoald and Theodo), two clerics living with Willimar.

4. After Columbanus's death, Magnus was sent to pray at his grave in Bobbio, where he returned with Columbanus's staff, and they followed his rule.

5. After Gallus's death, Magnus succeeded him as the superior of the cell. He was a priest from the Diocese of Augsburg named Tozzo or Toto, who invited Magnus to accompany him to the eastern part of the Allgäu.

6. Magnus proceeded to Eptaticus (Epfach), where he was received by Wikterp, the Bishop of Augsburg, and entrusted with the Christianization of the eastern Allgäu.

7. He built a cell, where later the monastery of Füssen was erected, and he died there. He was buried in the church he had constructed.

8. St. Magnus's relics were transferred to the newly erected church of Füssen in 851, and one of his bones was sent to St. Gallen in Switzerland.

9. The "Life" of St. Magnus, a hagiographic account of his life, was attributed to Theodore, his companion, and later emended and rewritten by Ermenrich, a monk of Ellwangen.

10. St. Magnus is venerated as the founder of St. Mang's Abbey, Füssen, and is the patron saint of the Allgäu, von Füssen, and Kempten. His feast day is celebrated on September 6th.
