Lake Erie After the Fierce Thunderstorms ~ August 25, 2023

Thursday morning, August 24, began with strong thunderstorms and cleared up around 4PM Eastern Time. Then around 8:30PM the skies darkened and the winds gusted to 89MPH with sustained wind speed of 65MPH uprooting trees and collapsing several structures in the area. Initially. over 500K customers lost power and I still am not fully recovered where I live.

Last night’s storms caused widespread damage, especially in the hardest-hit areas around Cuyahoga, Lake and Geauga counties. Electric Company crews are addressing hundreds of broken poles & crossarms, downed trees, power lines and debris blocking road access.

Today the temperature was 71F (22C). Remember, anything can and will happen on the Northeast Coast of Lake Erie.
