Ultima VII: The Black Gate — The End..? | DOS [#12]

In their last adventure the Avatar and his Companions returned to the Dungeon Despise at the request of the Time Lord, navigating their way through twisting corridors, debilitating energy fields, and confusing teleportation traps in order to reach the sphere-shaped blackrock generator constructed by the Fellowship to disrupt the Moongates that allowed for inter-planar travel! However, entry was barred by a red Moongate, passage being granted only by the aid of the mage Nicodemus and his enchanted hourglass; unfortunately its destruction meant that all Moongates across Britannia would cease to function… including those arisen by the ancient "Orb of the Moons."

As if that wasn't bad enough, yet one more generator remained — and to reach that, the Avatar had to use his newfound connections with the Fellowship to enter their "Meditation Retreat" that housed the cube-shaped monolith underground, which allowed the Guardian's "voice" to seep into the minds of his followers. Successful — and with the generator's core now in his possession — the Avatar returned to Buccaneer's Den to wrest the truth from the House of Games' owner, whose establishment housed its own network of tunnels that had served as the base for the infamous "Hook," the man responsible for the murder of Spark's father and so many others.

Documents left behind indicated that Hook's next plan was to travel to the Isle of the Avatar, once home to the Codex of Ultimate Wisdom — now its shrine under full control of the Guardian.

Now the Avatar must search for the key that can lock the Guardian away forever…
