Insertion:
Mastoid Process & Lateral 1/3 of Superior Nuchal Line of Occipital Bone

Functions:
1- Extension of the Head @ the Atlanto-Occipital Joint
2- Extension of the Neck @ the Spinal Joints
3- Lateral Flexion of the Head @ the Atlanto-Occipital Joint
4- Lateral Flexion of the Neck @ the Spinal Joints
5- Ipsilateral Rotation of the Head @ the Atlanto-Axial Joint
6- Ipsilateral Rotation of the Neck @ the Spinal Joints

Nerve:
Dorsal (Posterior) Rami of the Spinal Nerves at the Corresponding Levels

Activation: Lateral Flex and Ipsilateral Rotate
Lengthening: Have them sit, flex the trunk and neck, lateral flex on the opposite side and Contralaterally rotate
