From Mine to Memories: A Parkside Colliery Miner's Account

Parkside Colliery was a coal mine located in Newton-le-Willows, within the historical boundaries of Lancashire. However, from 1974 until its closure in 1993, it was situated in the metropolitan county of Merseyside. Despite its location, it was consistently referred to as being in Lancashire and was the final deep coal mine to operate within the Lancashire Coalfield prior to its cessation.

Today, I have the privilege of conducting a brief interview with one of the miners who worked in the depths of this mine. Through this conversation, we will gain insight into the daily lives of these hardworking individuals who risked their lives each day. Regrettably, my time with the miner was limited due to his health condition, and I am aware that this topic is sensitive for many.
