How The Moon got its craters?

Meteor impacts have carved huge craters in the ground that have filled with lava from the moon's interior.
Around these lava pools, crater rims that are Kilometers high tower up as mountain rings. Our blue planet is completely different - if only because three quarters of it is covered by water.
