I see Utange as a real coastal gem.

Settled just a mile or two from the nearby beaches, it's a residential region sitting along the old Malindi highway - which stretches to the north from a junction along New Malindi highway at Kongwea, just after Nyali Bridge. Old Malindi highway ultimately turns to the east at Utange Corner stage and finally ends at the Shanzu Teacher's College junction.

Bear in mind, many of Kenya's towns, big and small, were non-existent or simply village areas within the last 100 years. Utange is an up-and-coming village area that has evolved from the spillover of population from neighboring Mombasa, other suburbs, and new coastal arrivals from other regions. Essentially, we can say that Utange is evolving into a leafy outer suburb. Personally, I like it a lot.

I'll show a few separate videos detailing different aspects of the Utange story, such as the translation of the name, the former Somali refugee crisis, notorious flooding, lifestyle, and costs of life.
