133 Days On the Sun - NASA
Explore the Sun like never before in our captivating video '133 Days on Sun - NASA.' Witness the awe-inspiring journey of the Sun's activity from August 12 to December 22, 2022, as observed by NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO). Over its 13-year mission, the SDO has provided us with incredible 4K x 4K resolution images, revolutionizing our understanding of our closest star and its impact on our solar system.
This mesmerizing 133-day time-lapse video, shot at an extreme-ultraviolet wavelength of 17.1 nanometers, showcases the Sun's outermost atmospheric layer, the corona. Compiled from images captured just 108 seconds apart, this stunning footage condenses four months of solar observations into just 59 minutes.
As the Sun gracefully rotates, you'll witness bright active regions crossing its surface, accompanied by magnetic fields trapping hot, glowing plasma, and the dramatic spectacle of solar flares. While SDO provides a continuous view of the Sun, occasional interruptions, like Earth or the Moon eclipsing SDO or instrumentation downtime, create intriguing dark frames in the video.
To enhance your viewing experience, we've set this incredible journey to a continuous mix from Lars Leonhard's 'Geometric Shapes' album, courtesy of the artist.

On the left side of the frame, watch the Sun's full circle as it rotates steadily in golden yellow, with bright regions flickering like small fires and wispy loops extending above the surface. On the right, explore intriguing close-ups of select Sun regions in white-outlined squares.
