This situation has arisen after a heavy overnight rainstorm transformed the once dry, dusty desert into an undrivable mud pit, causing disastrous conditions. Festival-goers have been asked to shelter in place and conserve food and water due to the poor conditions. Travelers were informed that burning man festival is closed, and anyone heading to the festival will be turned away, as a national emergency has been declared at the festival.
