Stop telling your new shooters to let the gun surprise them. This tactic often used to help people get over shot anticipation is simply a farce. A firearm should NEVER surprise you. You should be always in control & understanding the status of the weapon.
We instead like to tackle the anticipation issue with talking through the shot. It has been quite successful. Often done out loud at first then after with internal self talk. This method also works well for CQB techniques.
What do y'all think? I know you've heard it before. Is there merit to it or should we throw "let the gun surprise you" out the window? I vote out the window.
