Persona Non Grata - French Ambassador Kicked Out!

The government in Niger has ordered the Nigerien Police to remove the French Ambassador from the territory of Niger.

We examine the legality or otherwise of this action within the context of the provisions of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations [1961].

We observe that Niger was acting within its sovereign power to revoke the visas granted to the Ambassador and his family, withdraw all diplomatic privileges, and order them to be removed.
