The Owls Return-Cam Two 🦉 09/01/23 00:03

The Great Horned Owl pair returned to the nest with territory calls heard off-cam. The female arrives first at the support branch and shortly after, the male drops down to the nest. An intruder is spotted flying around and above their heads, so more territorial calls are needed. It is possible that it could be the Barred Owl, off-cam, which has also staked claim to this territory as well. The Barred Owl is heard yearly from this cam site and has also met its demise once with the Great Horned Owls. The intruder, off-cam, continues to taunt the pair for a few minutes before leaving them alone. A few nestorations are done by the male before the female finally decides to check out the nest for herself. The usual pine cone pecking happens before the female poses for a close-up and then departs from the nest.
