How to splint a lower extremity fracture or sprain when the grid is down, and there is no higher medical care available. Mentioned in the video, the only time you'd want to take antibiotics for a fracture is when it is a compound, or open fracture, with a tear in the skin. Sometimes the bone is sticking out, and sometimes it isn't. Occasionally, the bone will pop out briefly during the injury, then go back in. These injuries that expose the bone are DANGEROUS because they can lead to infection. Thus, antibiotics are required.
