Brave Puppy Conquers The Stairs For The First Time

Although this Westie puppy takes some time to go down the stairs the first time, it really gets down them faster on the second attempt. This is just another proof that westies are cute lap dogs but also feisty little munchkin warriors wrapped up in fluffy white goodness. They are very energetic puppers, so if you are looking for a laid back pooch, you probably have another thing coming. But don't let their sweet face fool you. If you have any type of vermin in your house, these dogs will become its worst nightmare, and just like cats they like to bring trophies from their hunts. They are also known for carrying out full conversations, which you should not mix up with barking. Regular dogs bark, Westies talk to you (and sometimes they even talk back!) Confidence is not an issue with them, which sometimes can lead to trouble with bigger adversaries. Luckily for this pooch, his only adversary were the stairs, and they weren't in a fighting mood. This young pupper is just beginning to learn about his surroundings, but in no time he'll become the feisty little warrior just like all pooches from this breed.

Humans regard stairs as set of steps meant to connect two floors, but for dogs stairs can be perceived as obstacles that can also be a bit intimidating, especially when it comes to small-breed puppies who were never introduced to stairs before.

This puppy conquers his fear and his instinct comes as the best motivation for him to get brave and dive in the stairs. He takes a courageous leap and slides down the stairs in the cutest possible way. Eventually he finds out that these stairs weren't so scary after all. We perceive stairs as a series of steps to be taken one at a time, while dogs see stairs as a huge, big obstacle. When they look at a stairwell from the top, it may look like a giant step cliff and when they look at it from the bottom it may look like an insurmountable obstacle.

When teaching a dog or puppy to navigate the stairs, it can be especially beneficial to have some treats on hand for encouragement, and to maintain a calm and patient at all times. Steps can be daunting for a pup at first, but with a bit of support, he'll get the trick!
