Ron Desantis Holds News Conference Tuesday Ahead Of Hurricane Idalia-World-Wire

On Tuesday, Gov. Ron DeSantis held a news conference to address preparations for Hurricane Idalia.

FDEM Director Kevin Guthrie, Major General John D. Haas, and FDOT Secretary Jared W. Perdue attended.

DeSantis said 22 counties are under an evacuation order, and tolls have been waived so that people can more easily get to higher ground.

The governor said the state is coordinating with power companies. He said there are more than 25,000 linemen already in Florida as of Tuesday morning, and they anticipate a total of 30,000 to 40,000 linemen will be in Florida by the end of Tuesday.
